Well by now most people know the results of yesterdays match with Phil "the Power" Taylor was 6-2. To be fair it was good and bad as I actually was down 2-0 and broke him to start a come back which ened when I missed a dart at tops to win three in a row on him. Then the Power does what he does...turned up the heat and rolled out a few 12 darters to the delight of the packed stage area.
Now for what you don't know......
The trip from America was a bit of a long one that started leaving my house at 345am Thursday morning to fly to Atlanta where I sat for 5 hrs for the last flight in to Duesseldorf finally arriving there at 7am. The time difference is 8hrs and I got a bit of sleep on the plane but it is not real sleep so I was very tired. I made my way from the airport to Galdbeck fairly easy as it was a train ride with one connection taking about a hour so it was not bad at all. The temperature here was a cool 11C or 41F and rainy so a perfect day for day sleeping :) I was lucky and my hotel room was ready for when I got here so I practiced for a few hours then had a little power nap that lasted 3 hours...big mistake.
Well I practiced a few more hours then tried to go to sleep...popped a sleeping pill that got me to 3am and that was it until 630am as I just layed there tossing and turnung. I then found myself awaking at 1015 am and needing to be registered by 11am I was way WAY behind my normal rouutine. I like to be up between 7-8am throwing a bit then go eat then get ready for the days play by throwing in my room for a few hours. It gets 4-5 people deep on the main boards so usually stay out until about 11 or so but today there was no time.
So I look at my watch and we are abnormally late as it was 1245 and the draw was not up yet, usually the draw is up at 1145 and we start at noon. Today there was TV and a crowd so it changes things and it was a bit slower as they decided who played on TV...to my good fortune I did get to play and was 4th match on, the bad part was I faced Phil. To be honest though, it was the best day for me to play him... I know it sounds weird but if I was going to play him it may as well be on the WORST day for me versus a good day. I had not eaten, not slept and had not had the normal practice time in so it was ok to be the sacrificail lamb today :) In the end I did ok but was a bit loose at times...it turned out he only dropped 6 legs all day and I was 2 of them :)
Today I am fully rested and feel great. Normal practice is in already and off to eat...in fact I practiced for two hours last night before bed so the darts feel much better today and hope the draw matches my excitement.
Until later, just because you are unsuccessful today does not mean your a not a success it just means that greatness awaits.....
